ServSafe Food Safety Course Spring 2014
The ServSafe Food Safety Course is designed by the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation. The textbook utilized in the class incorporates the 2009 updates to the FDA Food Code, best practices, and science-based information to educate the participants. The participants can be any employee involved in food handling in any type of establishment (restaurant, hospital, nursing home, child care, residential care, lodging, summer camps, etc.). This is a comprehensive program for food service managers, supervisors, and staff.
EFFECTIVE September 1, 2012 – All full time managers or other employees responsible for operation of an establishment must have, within the last 5 years, successfully passed an approved ANSI Food Service Sanitation Program Exam such as ServSafe. Permitted Food Service Establishments that do not meet the training requirement would incur a two-point deduction on their sanitation inspection starting January 1, 2014. A credit of 2 points will no longer be given to establishments who have employees who have taken ServSafe.
The next ServSafe Class to be taught by the Rockingham County Department of Public Health will be held in the Rockingham County Agricultural Center in the Rockingham County Cooperative Extension Building (525 NC 65, Suite 200 Reidsville, NC 27320)

How Do I Register?
• Come to the Environmental Health Office at the Rockingham County Governmental Center.
• Complete a registration form
• Pay Registration fee (cash, check or money order):
o $165 to register for the class and get a textbook & exam answer sheet
o $95 to register for the class only (does not include a textbook or exam answer sheet)
o $45 to register to take the exam only (does not include the class or a textbook)
PLEASE NOTE: Once you have registered, your money cannot be refunded. It is your responsibility to attend class and bring the textbook (the answer sheet for the exam is located on the inside cover of the textbook) if purchased.
This class is limited to 35 participants and will be filled on a "first come, first served" basis. We will not hold textbooks based on telephone calls. This is a fast paced course and it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that participants read the entire textbook before attending the class.
