COVID-19 Vaccine
Your best protection from COVID-19 will be a combination of getting a COVID-19 vaccine, wearing a mask, staying at least 6 feet away from others, avoiding crowds, and washing your hands often. No one tool alone is going to stop the pandemic. None of the COVID-19 vaccines currently in development in the United States uses the live virus that causes COVID-19. You may have symptoms like a fever after you get a vaccine. This is normal and a sign that your immune system is learning how to recognize and fight the virus that causes COVID-19.
Starting January 12th, 2021, we will move into Group 2 of the Vaccine Prioritization Recommendation provided by the NC Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS). Group 2 will not be open to everyone at first. Vaccinations will be given to individuals 65 years and older at this time.
The vaccine site will be established at the Governmental Center (look for the big white tent), please enter at the Health and Human Services entrance.

We understand the frustration from families and loved ones who wish to receive the vaccine as quickly as possible. On, January 12th, we were able to vaccinate 600 of our citizens 75 years and older and on January 21st we were able to vaccinate 400 of our citizens 65 years and older. This is a step in the right direction, and puts us one step closer to getting on the other side of this pandemic. More information will be posted as it becomes available.
Vaccine appointments will be available to schedule every Friday at 12pm noon
pending vaccine allocation from the state.
